Eagle's Eye
A panoramic playground located high in the Rhodope Mountains, accessible by hike or jeep.

Only about an hour's drive from Grand Hotel Murgavec, “Eagle Eye” rises as one of the most emblematic balconies of the Rhodope Mountains. This unique glass facility, located at an altitude of 1563 meters above the picturesque Trigrad Gorge, offers a feeling of freedom and spaciousness — as if you are flying over the mountain.
What to expect from Eagle Eye
From the very first steps on the site you will be surprised by the adrenaline: a transparent floor, a vertical abyss under your feet and an unadulterated view of the endless hills - an unforgettable moment that combines the feeling of a picnic on the rocks and a flight over the mysterious world of the Rhodopes. The panorama covers Mount Perelik, the Mursalitsa massif, the Trigrad Gorge and even the distant hills on the border with Greece.
The hidden treasures of the area
As you climb to “Eagle Eye”, the road passes through several Rhodope villages and through pristine nature. On the route you can find cozy picnic meadows among the scent of pine forests and wild flowers. Nearby are also the Devilsko Garglo and Yagodinskaya caves, which deserve a separate day to explore.
How to get to Eagle Eye from Grand Hotel Murgavets
From the hotel, take the scenic road to Smolyan, and then to the village of Yagodina (about 40 km). From Yagodina begins a marked route to the top, which can be walked for about an hour and a half through the forest (about 4 km in one direction). In the summer months, the most suitable is the transition early in the morning or in the afternoon, when the mountain smells strongest and the sun is not so scorching.
Practical advice for visiting
- Wear comfortable mountain and windbreaker shoes — even in summer, a cool wind often blows at the top.
- Take water and a small snack for a picnic — the place is cozy for relaxing in nature.
- Don't forget your camera or phone — the views are captivating, especially at sunset.
- Check the weather in advance — in fog and rain the panorama will not be complete.
- Getting around is also possible by off-road vehicle if you prefer, but walking on foot is part of the charm of the Rhodope Mountains.
When is the best time to walk?
Spring and summer are the seasons when the nature around “Eagle Eye” is most colorful and alive. Autumn will welcome you with velvety woods and warm colors, and in winter the landscape is crystalline, but the transition becomes more challenging.
